This month, I had a unique experience at a Breathwork Workshop which pushed me out of my comfort zone and literally into an ice bath.
The workshop took place on a warm Tuesday afternoon (thankfully). The practitioner, Hayley, provided me with a great introduction and told me that there was the possibility that I would get pins and needles in my extremities if I did the breathwork correctly.
The session started with a soothing sound bath, syncing our breath to Hayley’s count. it was a journey – first grounding ourselves, then increasing our heart rate and energy and finally slowing it all down into a meditation.
I was amazed at how quickly controlling your breath could be achieved, albeit with keen focus and by the end of the workshop I was able to follow Hayley’s breath count, feeling empowered and centered.
And then came the ice bath – a true test of my newfound skill skill. It was a challenge but rewarding to get to the threshold of 2 minutes.
